Profile
Prof. Ping-Shan Lai is currently a full Professor in the Department of Chemistry at National Chung Hsing University (NCHU). Dr. Lai received his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 2006. He visited Prof. Kazunori Kataoka’s lab as a visiting researcher and studied photosensitizer containing polyionic complexes and then joined the faculty at the Department of Chemistry in NCHU in 2006. His research interests focus on drug delivery systems and nanomedicine for disease treatments or early diagnosis. He has published over 75 peer-reviewed articles and received 10th National Innovation Award of Taiwan and Rising Suns in Asia from Controlled Release Society in 2012. His current research includes the immune response of synthesized nanomaterials and the development of new drugs/formulations against cancers, eye and inflammatory diseases. Recently, he transferred the techniques of polymer-drug conjugates to a pharmaceutical company in Taiwan, and Phase I clinical trial of developed anti-cancer drugs (CA102N) completed in the United States in 2022 and the collaborated company will submit IND for Phase II clinical trial of CA102N in the near future.
